16 adivasi communities have begun to enquire into and record their customary laws. The framework for documentation evolved through a series of workshops and discussions with elders and youth of adivasi communities.

Traditional governance systems in all the communities are being mapped and recorded. Gender gaps in the governance systems are being meticulously identified and analysed. Core principles of traditional governance–balance, reciprocity, collectivism, complementarity, harmony between humans and nature- form the basis of this enquiry into customary law. It explores the ways in which these principles guide and inform the governance of adivasi territories, resources and communities.
